When a storm hits, help has to find the right place.

Lots of people want to help. Lots of places need help. EndureNC connects them, fast, safely, and even with no signal.

  • Help within 24 hours is the goal
  • Only checked helpers see needs
  • Works without signal

The big idea

Four steps, over and over, all day.

Every piece of help follows the same simple path. Once you know it, you know EndureNC.

  1. 1. A pod asks

A pod is a place that hands out supplies, like a church or a fire hall. When it runs low, it posts what it needs: "Water, 40 cases, by tonight."

  2. 2. Dispatch matches

Dispatchers are the matchmakers. They see every need and every helper, and send the right one. They double-check every "yes".

  3. 3. Helpers go

A volunteer or a group, like a church crew or a team of pilots, says "yes" and heads out. Everyone can see they're on the way.

  4. 4. Done, and seen

The pod says "they're here" and "done". The need is crossed off, and everyone on it sees the same thing.

The goal: every pod connected with help within 24 hours.

Not by reposting on social media. One place, where everyone sees what's real.

Meet the team

Everyone has one job, and sees only what that job needs.

That keeps people safe. A volunteer's phone never holds anyone else's address. A stranger can't see anything at all.

Pod

A manager and their team

The supply site. Posts what it needs, counts what comes in, and welcomes whoever is coming.

Sees its own needs, supplies and who's coming
Never sees other pods or volunteers' phone numbers

Volunteer

One person who wants to help

Gets sent where they're needed. Says "yes", taps "on my way", "I'm here" and "done".

Sees only their own work: where, when, who to ask
Never browses needs or other people

Group

A church crew, pilots, the Guard, Starlink

Says what it can bring. Answers when a pod asks. Its lead picks who from the group goes.

Sees the asks made to it, and its own work
Gets a pod's address only once dispatch confirms

Dispatcher

The matchmaker

Sees every need and every helper. Sends help, and double-checks every "yes" so a wrong tap gets caught fast.

Sees everything in their relief effort
The only one who sees volunteers' phone numbers

Admin

Runs one relief effort

Does everything a dispatcher does, plus invites people, sets things up, and turns accounts on and off.

Sees everything in their relief effort
Nothing from any other relief effort

Ambassador

Spreads the word

Talks to churches, fire halls and neighbors. Shares their own sign-up link and keeps track of who they've reached.

Sees their own outreach and how many joined
Never sees who signed up with their link

EndureNC's own team

We start each relief effort and hand it to its admins. After that we watch the numbers and give advice. The app doesn't show us the people, addresses or phone numbers in an effort's records, only its admins' names and emails. If someone needs help with their account, we can step in on it, and that effort's admins see what we did and when.

Your first day

Just got a job? Here's all you need.

Find yours. Three steps, and you're helping. The app shows you what to do next, every time you open it.

Volunteer

Going where you are sent
  1. Say Yes or I can't when work comes in.
  2. Tap On my way when you leave.
  3. Tap I'm here, then Done.

Pod

Running a supply site
  1. Post what you need, and ask a group that offers it.
  2. Count what comes in, with your team.
  3. Tap They're here and Done when help arrives.

Group

A crew, a team, a church
  1. Say what you can offer.
  2. Answer each ask: We can or We can't.
  3. If you lead it, pick who goes.

Dispatcher

The matchmaker
  1. Open Today: it lists what needs you now.
  2. Confirm each yes, or call if it looks wrong.
  3. Send help to needs with no one on them.

Ambassador

Spreading the word
  1. Share your link with places and people.
  2. Log who you talked to.
  3. Mark a place ready so dispatch can invite it.

Follow one need

From "we're out of water" to "thank you" in one afternoon.

Here's an example day, step by step, with made-up names and times. Everyone involved sees each step on their own phone.

  1. 8:00 AM
    SWANNANOA POD

Posts a need: water, 40 cases, critical

The app shows "2 groups offer water". They tap "Ask Mountain Water".

  2. 9:00 AM
    MOUNTAIN WATER CO-OP

Answers: "We can, 40 cases by 3 PM"

They know it's near Swannanoa, but not the address yet.

  3. 9:05 AM
    DISPATCH

    Confirms it

Now, and only now, the pod and the group get each other's address and phone number.

  4. 1:10 PM
    MOUNTAIN WATER CO-OP

    Taps "On the way"

The pod sees the truck coming, with a time it'll get there.

  5. 2:45 PM
    SWANNANOA POD

    Taps "They're here", then "Done"

The 40 cases are counted into the pod's supplies. The need is crossed off.

  6. 3:00 PM
    EVERYONE

Sees the same story, start to finish

Who said what, and when. Nothing left to guess.

What the pod sees as the truck arrives.

The double check

Every "yes" gets checked by a real person.

Fingers slip. Plans change. So nothing important rests on one tap.

  1. STEP 1

    You tap "Yes"

    You said yesUndo

For 8 seconds you can undo it. It never leaves your phone.

  2. STEP 2

    It's sent

Said yes · waiting for dispatch

You can still take it back yourself, until dispatch checks it. You can go ahead either way.

  3. STEP 3

    Dispatch confirms

    Confirmed by Dana at dispatch

A real person looked at it. "Confirmed" only ever means this.

Tapped the wrong thing?

Tap "Tell dispatch". They call you, fix it, and everyone on that work sees it marked Corrected, so nobody acts on old news.

Who sees what

Nobody sees more than their job needs.

Disasters bring out good people, and some bad ones. So EndureNC keeps people's details locked to the few who need them.

All of itOnly their own partNever

One exception: an admin can give a trusted group, like a National Guard liaison, a wider view of pods and needs. They still never see volunteers' phone numbers.

No signal? No problem.

Your phone remembers everything until it can send.

In the mountains after a storm, signal comes and goes. EndureNC is built for that.

  • Every tap is saved on your phone first. Nothing gets lost if the signal drops.
  • It sends by itself when you find signal. Once a day is enough.
  • It tells you how old your picture is. "As of 6:12 AM" means that's the last time you heard.
  • Each morning at 7, a briefing of your day. What's coming, what's needed, what's new.

How to join

Nobody just walks in. Everyone is checked first.

That's how we keep bad actors out, and keep volunteers and pods safe.

  1. 1

As a volunteer, a pod, or a group. It takes a few minutes. An ambassador may have sent you the link.

  2. 2

    We call you

The coordination team checks you are who you say you are.

  3. 3

    You get a code

    Like K7QM4-WX2PD. It works once.

  4. 4

    You're in

Tap "Join with a code", make a password, and you'll see your first job or your pod's day.

Many relief efforts at once

Each disaster gets its own EndureNC.

Every relief effort has its own admins, pods and volunteers, and nothing crosses between them. One person can help in two, with a different job in each.

  • When one ends, phones get two weeks to send what's left.
  • 90 days later, names, phone numbers and addresses are deleted for good.
  • The numbers stay, so the next response can learn from this one.
